About Isel

Isel Asquith-Vallance is the founder and creative director of ISEL, a House of Seasonal Beauty based in the English Lake District.

An internationally published botanical artist, professional chef and former neuroscientist, her work brings together art, gardens, seasonal food and thoughtful living through a shared belief that beauty is not simply something to admire, but something to live by.

From the age of eight, Isel has been captivated by the extraordinary detail found within the botanical world. Her paintings are created slowly and with meticulous attention, inviting the viewer to pause long enough to notice the quiet architecture of a flower, the translucency of a petal or the subtle movement of light across a stem.

Her botanical work has been exhibited, published and collected by those who value craftsmanship, observation and the enduring beauty of the natural world.

Alongside her artistic practice, Isel spent more than two decades studying the brain and mentoring entrepreneurs in 22 countries, exploring the relationship between attention, identity and transformation. Seventeen years ago, she also founded The Botanical Chef, where her love of seasonal ingredients, gardens and botanical beauty found expression through food, teaching, television and radio.

Today, these threads come together in ISEL.

Through botanical art, seasonal recipes, gardens, writing, retreats and thoughtful conversations, Isel invites others to slow down, pay closer attention and rediscover the richness of living in rhythm with the seasons.

At the heart of every painting is a simple hope: that it becomes more than an image on a wall. That it serves as a quiet invitation to pause, breathe and reconnect with the beauty that surrounds us every day.
